Santiago is one of the larger islands in Cape Verde: Cidade Velha has
the 15th century ruins of what was once a magnificent cathedral and fort and
there is also a delightful museum exhibiting the city’s history. You could
possibly explore the whole of Santiago within a couple of days, with its many
small traditional villages and wonderful botanical gardens, with cobbled
streets and very scenic areas to leisurely explore. The national Maritime
museum in the nearby town of Cabo Verde is well worth the visit; it houses
treasures that have been retrieved over the years from ship wrecks around its
islands. Even though this is a reasonably small island, there are still plenty
of activities for tourists such as, but not limited to, bird watching and
nature walks. Praia is the capital of the island and is quite a busy, bustling
and crowded town. You can hire a small boat and explore the other islands in
the Cape Verde if you wish to get out and about, they’re not that far apart and
the scenery of these volcanic islands are wonderful.
There are many beaches around Santiago Island, but many of them are dark
in colour from the lava sand that makes them. They don’t look very appealing
and once they are wet they’re very muddy, but you will find two very nice
golden beaches with clear waters in Tarrafal and Sao Francisco, these offer
water sports like sailing and wind and kite surfing.
EatingThe majority of the cuisine here is mostly Creole and Portuguese
influenced. There are many fish dishes, as the islands are plentiful with sea
life such as octopus and tuna. Stews and rice meals are the norm, but you will
find restaurants serving pizza and Italian restaurants are found in some of the
larger villages. Be warned, the islands are very laid back so don’t go to the
restaurants expecting to be served quickly, you will need a few drinks before
it arrives to the table, but it is well worth the wait.
If you’re looking for a shopping heaven then you … Read More
The Company and Products
Global Resorts Network is a
travel business that has existed since 1986, selling discount luxury travel.
The product is a membership that has been sold, up until recently, only to
customers who attended a personal sales presentation. This membership enables
the clients to book week-long vacations at time-shares and resorts around the
world at discount rates, ranging from $298 to $798 per week. The Gold
membership is $1495 (for three years) and the Platinum is $2995 (lifetime); the
only other difference being that the Gold members pay a slightly higher price
per week stay.
The Program and Compensation
There are currently three
approved marketing systems that you can get involved with to run your online business
for Global Resorts Network. The first two are standard marketing systems used
to promote your website and the third is a Reverse Funnel System that is a
funded proposal system. This means basically that the prospect must pay a fee
to get any information about the business in order to weed out non-serious
buyers. This was revolutionary when it debuted, but has now been copied by
others in the direct sales home business industry. After joining at the Gold or
Platinum level you then need to pay a $100 Global Resorts Network site fee and
$29.95 to $300 per month, depending on which marketing system you choose.
Advertising costs are not included, so this will add to your monthly cost.
Global Resorts Network uses a perpetual one-up compensation plan, which means
that your first sale is passed up to your sponsor to activate your first level.
After that you receive a commission on each sale and your sponsor also receives
a commission for that sale, and so on.
This company seems to provide a
good quality product that has a 20-year track record of providing discount
luxury travel. However, by shifting their sales to network marketing they have
dramatically increased their memberships, decreasing the available inventory.
And as ever-increasing numbers of clients utilize their member benefits, the
quality of the product diminishes since there is a relatively finite number … Read More
Luxury travel is a market which,
whilst although affected by the downturn in the worldwide financial market, is
still one which prospers. A large percentage of the people affected by the
recession would not have opted for luxury travel anyway. The reality is that
many of those who had enough money to utilise luxury travel services will still
be in a relatively comfortable today and thus remain in the market. The Luxury
Travel Fair held in London each year is one of the best opportunities in Europe
for those involved in the Luxury Travel market to showcase their products and
to reach new customers.
The London Luxury Travel Fair is
held at the Olympia Venue in London and is accessible by ticket only. Tickets
can be purchased in the door but they are also available in advance. If you
need convincing to attend then you will be sold by the promise of accessing all
of the premier travel products in the UK under one roof, as well as products
from companies from around the world. The show is not just an opportunity to
walk around and browse brochures, there are also interactive speeches,
celebrity speakers such as David Shukman from the BBC and an international food
market where celebrity chefs help you to experience the luxury foods you could
experience in different parts of the world.
The luxury fair runs for 4 days,
although you should be able to cover all bases in one day. If you need a rest
between scouting the various features you can have a drink in the island themed
bar or shop for Christmas gifts at Spirit of Christmas Fair which is at the
same location. Olympia is also in the centre of London (close to the Earls
Court area) and is a great base also for London’s main attractions and museums,
hence combining visiting the exhibition with some sightseeing might mean a
chance to make better use of your time in London.
There are some other excellent
travel fairs and exhibitions which you might also be interested in and these
include Monaco Boat Show, … Read More

If you are a business owner, it is important to keep your employees in mind when running your business. Your employees are just as important as your customers and in many cases; they act as the ambassadors of your business more than you do. You may be busy with other tasks and your employees are on the front lines interacting with customers. As the first people your customers deal with, it is important that your employees act professionally and compassionately.
If your employees are unhappy, it will translate through their attitudes when they are dealing with clients. It does not take a lot to keep an employee happy. You need to give them a fair wage for their services, give them comfortable working conditions and occasionally recognize their hard work and loyalty to your company. There are several ways to give recognition to an outstanding employee. You can honor them with a once in a lifetime experience like a trip somewhere. If you have someone who is a high achiever, consider scratching a few things off their bucket lists and sending them on a sports vacation. Imagine how exciting it would be for your number one salesperson to go to the Super Bowl or All Star Game as a reward for their hard work.
Another option for rewarding employees is with gift certificates.
It might be hard to know exactly what to give several employees all at once, so
if you need to recognize the efforts of several people, use gift cards. This is
also a great idea for the holiday season when you want to end the year
acknowledging how much the people who work for you mean to the company.
Parties are another great way to say thanks. Many business
owners bring employees together for lavish celebrations for special occasions
and celebrations. If your company has met its sales goals or you have just
planned and executed a major event, it is cause for celebration. Throw a bash
for those who worked together to make sure things turned out great. If you want
to keep things … Read More
